SuperSeries

Super Series is a new European Bowling tour that started 2003, with it´s first competition in Aalborg, Denmark. The new tournament has 6 tour stops and a grande finale in Jönköping, Sweden, during easter 2004. The prize money will be the highest ever in Sweden. Swedish Television, SVT, NRK, Norwegian Television and Viasat Denmark is broadcasting the finals from each tour stops live. The Grande Finale in Jönköping will be broadcasted live on Swedish National channel and can be wied all over the country. Today the tour stops are in Sweden, Norway, Denmark and Finland, but in a very short time, probably the season 2004/2005, the tour will expand to the rest of the European bowling countries. Those countries will probably be Germany, England, Spain, France and Italy.

The worst job in a Bowling Tournament is to dress the lanes. Only a few bowlers’ makes a score in a level that they not need to blame anything on the oil-pattern. In some tournaments only the winner is satisfied with how the oil-machine and the “dressman” have done their work together.

But at Olympia Open Oskar Broström have done an excellent work.

- As you can see in the list of standings there is a good mix of players with results for a final. There are some leftys, some guys with much rotation and some with a little bit less and some +8-players.

- Because I should hold a seminar today I wasn’t to pleased with my results before the Friday squad. I hadn’t scored anything above 1250. So what advice could I give the other competitors here in Helsingborg, said Tomas Leandersson.

- But in all of a sudden I find myself striking to a round of 1480, so I could go into the seminar with no fair.

Tomas showed the spectators that it was possible to shot high this week on this lanes, definitely.

Patrick Backe, Tournament Manager, is very pleased for the work of Oskar Broström.

- Now we know that we have the knowledge of lane-dressing here in Sweden. We are not forced to fly in people from USA every time we need a compative oil-patter. Now Oskar have proved that he can handle the lane-machine as well as the drilling equipment in his pro shop.

- I’m also satisfied over the amount of players this year. I had a wish of increasing the number of players with 30 % and we are close to that number. And I hope everyone feels that they are in the best place in the world right now.
