SuperSeries

Super Series is a new European Bowling tour that started 2003, with it´s first competition in Aalborg, Denmark. The new tournament has 6 tour stops and a grande finale in Jönköping, Sweden, during easter 2004. The prize money will be the highest ever in Sweden. Swedish Television, SVT, NRK, Norwegian Television and Viasat Denmark is broadcasting the finals from each tour stops live. The Grande Finale in Jönköping will be broadcasted live on Swedish National channel and can be wied all over the country. Today the tour stops are in Sweden, Norway, Denmark and Finland, but in a very short time, probably the season 2004/2005, the tour will expand to the rest of the European bowling countries. Those countries will probably be Germany, England, Spain, France and Italy.

Magnus Johnson, headcoach of Team Sweden, gets the award Outstanding International Coach.. On the Olympia lanes in Helsingborg Magnus gets the award from Fred Borden, former headcoach of the USA.

-It feels fantastic. To have my name beside Fred Borden’s and Tom Kourus, almost feels like having the inscription on the Stanley Cup trophy. I’m very flattered and honoured.

Four squads have been played in the SuperSeries stop at Olympia Tournament. On the top of the hill there is, as many times before, a finish bowler. Jouni Helminen didn’t find the lanes tricky at all.

- No, it was my kind of lanes today so I didn’t have to solve any problem at all.

Magnus Johnson has the opinion abut the lanes that they are breaking the usual pattern. It’s pretty fast lane where the players shouldn’t take the ball to long way from the hand to the pocket.

- Every player that find the pattern comfortable or every real good player who know how to solve the problem gets the results to made the cut.

One of them is probably Anders Öhman. He won the Danish Masters last weekend and open the fifth squad by reaching the 500 in 2 games.
