SuperSeries

Super Series is a new European Bowling tour that started 2003, with it´s first competition in Aalborg, Denmark. The new tournament has 6 tour stops and a grande finale in Jönköping, Sweden, during easter 2004. The prize money will be the highest ever in Sweden. Swedish Television, SVT, NRK, Norwegian Television and Viasat Denmark is broadcasting the finals from each tour stops live. The Grande Finale in Jönköping will be broadcasted live on Swedish National channel and can be wied all over the country. Today the tour stops are in Sweden, Norway, Denmark and Finland, but in a very short time, probably the season 2004/2005, the tour will expand to the rest of the European bowling countries. Those countries will probably be Germany, England, Spain, France and Italy.

Bowling and TV - A big success

The one hour long summary of the TV broadcast from Super Series Tour Championsihops in Jönköping had an average of 320 000 viewers.
- That is really good ratings, says Remy Nilson, head of the sports division at the Swedish National Television.
He compares it to other sports that has the same amout of viewers, for example indoor bandy and ladies football/soccer.

-We have noted that these sports has around 200 000 to 400 000 viewers, when broadcasted at a certain hours during the day, says Remy.

The Super Series final was broadcasted live, sunday, on SVT24 and the summary on monday at 5 pm on SVT1. That is the best time of broadcast that bowling had on Swedish television for years and the ratings were really good. The summary had around 200 000 viewers in the beginning and at the end of the broadcast the ratings were up to 600 000. That is a lot concidering that Swedens population is only around 9 000 000.

Although these ratings should not come as a surprise. The summary broadcast of Kungsbacka International was aired, sunday 14th of december at 11.25 pm and had 170 000 viewers.
