Ebonite balls to the ladies
2005-12-16

24 years ago the married couple Yvonne and Ernst Berndt dominate the European Championship in Frankfurt, Germany. Both Yvonne and Ernst won the All-Event title and Yvonne also get the gold medal in the Masters event. They still compete and do good results. But the biggest problem for them today is to get the top position in the family.

Their 16 year old son Marcus is the one who get the most headlines these days. He made the cut in the SuperSix stop in Nyköping and in Västerås and is in the hunt for a position in the final field in Kungsbacka.

But sometimes the parents steal the focus from Marcus. On Tuesday Yvonne had some difficulties to hit the pins effectively and she had to spare. And she did spare shots in a number of 37. No one did more that squad so Yvonne gets the Ebonite ball as an extra prize.

On Wednesday the Ebonite ball goes to Team Kungsbackas Jeanette Otbäck after a tight battle with Jo Harries. The third ball goes to Nina Flack after her qualification attempt on Thursday.

In the lead after 8/12 squads is the Finnish guy Jari Ratia. With a final game of 263 he ended up 15 points ahead of Bill Hoffman who finally arrived to a Bowling Centre where he could find anything he need.

The cut for Top 8 will be somewhere just over 1400. So the big surprise thus far, Johnny Magnusson of Team Kungsbacka (pictured below), should make it by a 1415-round. The cut for the final probably will be as high as 1355 or more. Some of the real good players is on the lanes Friday and Saturday. Many of them is in big need of good results for their positions in the European Rankin Masters. Kungsbacka International is the last stop on the tour.
