SuperSeries

Super Series is a new European Bowling tour that started 2003, with it´s first competition in Aalborg, Denmark. The new tournament has 6 tour stops and a grande finale in Jönköping, Sweden, during easter 2004. The prize money will be the highest ever in Sweden. Swedish Television, SVT, NRK, Norwegian Television and Viasat Denmark is broadcasting the finals from each tour stops live. The Grande Finale in Jönköping will be broadcasted live on Swedish National channel and can be wied all over the country. Today the tour stops are in Sweden, Norway, Denmark and Finland, but in a very short time, probably the season 2004/2005, the tour will expand to the rest of the European bowling countries. Those countries will probably be Germany, England, Spain, France and Italy.

Bowltech and Ebonite gives remedy to strike problems.

The reason to a strike problem is often that a player is short of material. Sometimes it happens that a bowler note one spare frame after the other. The pins on the board stand steady as if they were made of concrete. To solve this problem Bowltech will hand over an effective Ebonite strike ball in three of the squads in Kungsbacka.

-The best thing is to let Matihas Årup decide. He is in the Ebonite staff and knows what to use in Kungsbacka.

Mathias Årup was the winner in Super Series stop in Helsingborg, 2004, Olympia Tournament.
What will be in your bags in Kungsbacka?
-I presume that it would be a condition of medium to heavy oil pattern there, so if you ask me which three Ebonite’s I will recommend I’ll give you this answer.

The One
A new ball with high hook rating with a surface that takes the ball far down on the lane before it starts it’s way to the pocket. I have never seen a ball going that far before it starts to hook. My opinion is that many of the strongest balls uses to much energy on their way to the pin board that much of the efficiency is gone when the ball hit the pocket.
Due to the construction of the weight block and the surface the ball goes long enough and the friction makes an high effective on heavy to medium oiled patterns.
Over Time
Is a follow up for the very popular series of balls, called Big Time.A reactive ball with little more length and a smother breakpoint than the Big Times. I find this ball very easy to control even though it’s a very aggressive one.
Xxxcel
The third generation in the Xxxcel-series. It had showed to be a real good ball on heavy oiled lanes. It kicks a little bit earlier and in a more aggressive way than Xcel and Xxcel. STRONG in the pocket hit.

- I’m glad that I can give away these three Ebonite balls in Kungsbacka and hope they will come to players who really need some strong equipment.
- My own season this autumn had been rather OK. But it could have been some better results for me and my team Elbogen/N6 in the league. In the individual tournaments I have the feeling that I am really compete to the Top 4 position in nearly every tournament. And in Norwegian Open, SuperSeries in Moss, I reached the semi final.
- Last weeks I have been practice on details that I don’t felt wasn’t at 100 %. The week before Kungsbacka I will play in Super Six in Västerås. I hope my extra practice will pay back in more than one way in that tournament so I can arrive in Kungsbacka in my best shape, and let my Ebonite balls take me to the top.

To be a player on Mathias level and also have a full time job is a tricky part in the career.

- Yes. But I’m glad that my employer, the insurance company IF Skadeförsäkring, helps me as far as they can. But it’s a huge puzzle with my days of vacation for me to solve. And I’m getting used to the fact that I’m not able to participate in every tournament I want.

You where trying the PBA this summer, the Tour Trials. Are there going to be more travels to USA?

- It was an expensive trip and I consumed to many days of vacation so I don’t think it’s possible to go to the Tour Trials next summer. I will concentrate on big tournaments in Europe now for a while.
- And if I will be picked up in Team Sweden for the World Championship in Korea I need some days of vacation…

It is no big surprise if Magnus Johnson should pick up Mathias Årup for Team Sweden. A victory in Kungsbacka will suit his purposes perfect.
